Welcome to St. Patrick Parish of Amador County, California.

Deacon Garry
Deacon Garry Evans joined us in 2007, transferring from The Church of the Transfiguration in Castro Valley. He was ordained into the Diocese of Oakland in 2000. You can read a little about Deacon Garry here.

Rev. Vince Juan leaves us at the end of June, after assisting with Parochial Vicar duties for a month.  Fr. Vince heads for Auburn for a temporary assignment before returning to from Catholic University in Washington, D.C.  Please bid him a fond adieu!   See announcement below about our new Parochial Vicar who will arrive in July.
Deacon Bill
William Thompson is our Deacon Emeritus. Deacon Bill served as a Permanent Deacon for over twenty years, the majority of them right here at St. Patrick Parish.
Fr. George
Rev. George Thomas is recently retired and now living in Amador County.  Father George generously gives of his "retired" time, assisting Father Tom on an as-needed basis.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
New! NEW PAROCHIAL VICAR FOR THE AMADOR CATHOLIC COMMUNITY.  Effective July 1, 2009, Rev. Geraldo Rañin is appointed Parochial Vicar to the three parishes in Amador County:  St. Patrick (Jackson-Volcano-Pioneer), Immaculate Conception (Sutter Creek-Plymouth), and Sacred Heart (Ione).  Father Aldo comes to us from Downieville, where he has been Parochial Vicar at Immaculate Conception Parish.   Welcome, Father Aldo!
Note! SILVER LAKE SUMMER MASS SCHEDULE.  Beginning July 5, and continuing through September 6, Mass will be held each Sunday at 12 NOON.  The chapel is located at Plasse's Resort, along the shore of Silver Lake and beneath the grandeur of Thunder Mountain.  Try to attend at least one Mass during the summer at this very special house of worship!
New! YMI HOSTS BREAKFAST.  The Our Lady of the Pines Men's Club, YMI Council #137, will be serving breakfast in Haran Hall after the 9:30 Mass on Sunday, July 26.  Price is by donation.  For information, call Phil Fondale at 295-1618.
Look! OUR LADY OF THE PINES GOLF TOURNAMENT IN AUGUST. Mark your calendars!  The annual Our Lady of the Pines Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, August 22, at Mace Meadow in Pioneer.  Download the flyer and signup sheet here.  Also, volunteers are needed to ensure a successful event.  Please call Lee Cumpian at 295-6619 and sign up to help.
YEAR OF THE PRIEST BEGINS.  Pope Benedict XVI inaugurated the Jubilee Year of the Priest on June 19.  The pope said he was calling for the special year for priests in an effort to foster the priest's yearning "for spiritual reflection, upon which the effectiveness of their ministry principally depends."  Please pray for our priests!
ELECTRONIC GIVING PROGRAM SIGNUPS BEGIN. The Amador Catholic Community has begun enrollment in the Electronic Giving Program.  All parishioners in Amador County are now able to donate to their parish using Electronic Fund Transfers (EFT).  Enroll in the program, and your tax-deductible gift will be conveniently transferred each month from your checking or credit card account directly to our parish.  A record of each electronic gift will appear on your monthly bank or credit card statement.  At the end of each year you will receive a statement for IRS purposes.  Enrollment forms and more will be available after each Mass, beginning this month.  Visit http://amadorcatholics.org/index_files/elecgiving.htm to view FAQ's about the program and to enroll online now or download an enrollment form.  You may increase, decrease, or suspend your pledge at any time, just by calling the St. Patrick office at 223-0168.  Thank you for your generous support of our parish!
Look! NEW PHOTO DIRECTORY PLANNED:  The Amador Catholic Community is in the planning stages of a new photo directory.  This edition will include photos of parishioners from all six Catholic churches in Amador County, divided by parish.  We are also looking for candid photos of our parish groups and their activities, which may be included in the St. Patrick section of the directory.  If your group has a photograher, please shoot some photos or save recent shots of your activities!  Professional portrait sessions of our parishioners are scheduled for later this summer/fall.  More information to come. For information about candid photos of group activities, please contact Blanche at 295-4025 or blanca@volcano.net.
AMADOR CATHOLIC COMMUNITY SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES. The Faith in Action series that was initiated this past Lenten season was a great success, and Fr. Tom is encouraging all parishioners to continue to gather in small groups by participating in Small Christian Communities (SCC). Small Christian Communities are small groups of 8-10 people who meet regularly to discuss the Sunday readings and reflect on being a Christian and how to "activate the four dimensions of word, community, worship, and witness."  To sign up, or for more information, go to http://suttercreekparish.com/ACCSCCform.pdf, email SCC@suttercreekparish.com, or call Lisa at 916-296-7121.
NEW HOUSING MINISTRY:  SOS (SAVE OUR SHELTER).  St. Patrick Parish has a new ministry called SOS to assist parishioners who are struggling with high mortgage payments and who may be in danger of losing their homes as a result.  For more information, call Joe Lang at 296-3154.
THE ROSARY.  Pray the Rosary before every weekday Mass at St. Patrick and Our Lady of the Pines.  At St. Patrick, the Rosary is prayed at 7:40 AM, Tuesday through Friday.  At Our Lady of the Pines, it is prayed at 9:10 AM on Tuesday and Friday. Download an instruction sheet on How to Recite the Holy Rosary here. (PDF FORMAT, 157 KB)

PLEASE REFER TO THE CURRENT BULLETIN TO READ WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING IN THE PARISH.
