Your Respect Life Committee is starting the Prayers for Life Program on June 1, 2006. Below is a list of 31 petitions or prayers, one for each day of the month.  Beginning June 1, say one prayer a day, and then repeat each month thereafter. In the months with 30 days, say two prayers on the last day or leave it in God's hands!  Who can participate in this program?  Everyone!  Children, teens, moms and dads, grandparents, singles, married, homebound, busy people, all of you are eligible.  Include these prayers with your other prayers and we think we will see our community change.  Place your list on your refrigerator or your kitchen table or wherever it will remind you to pray. We believe that God will truly bless us and answer our Prayers for Life.

  1. For the President and Congress, that they would find the will and the means to legislate the inalienable right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” for all people, including unborn children.

  2. For all Christians and people of good will that we would recognize that it is not enough to believe in the right to life, but that we must actively pray, struggle, and suffer for this right.

  3. For all those who work in the abortion industry that their hearts and minds would be opened to hear the truth of life.

  4. For mothers contemplating abortion that they would allow love for their child and the grace of God to overcome their doubts and fears, and if they decide they do not want to keep their babies, that they would choose adoption rather than abortion.

  5. For all leaders and believers in the pro-life movement that the Lord of Life would bless all of us and keep us all firm in our commitment to the defense of life.

  6. That God would rouse all people, especially Christians from their apathy and correct their wrong thinking so that they become fully committed to the cause of life.

  7. That the Lord would provide us with truly committed, pro-life candidates for office.

  8. For all priests and ministers, that they would be convinced of the importance of the defense of life, and would publicly proclaim that conviction.

  9. For our young people, that they would hear the Divine message of chastity and Christian parenthood from their families, friends, and churches.

  10. That the entertainment and news media would become accountable for their role in promoting immorality and disrespect for life.

  11. For all courts of the land, especially the Supreme Court of the United States, that their judges would refuse to hear the voice of political agenda and expediency and would listen instead to the ‘still, small voice’ of God speaking in their hearts.

  12. That those who have assisted in abortions in any way would realize the legacy of pain and guilt that their actions have helped to create, and that they would turn to God for forgiveness.

  13. For all doctors, counselors, priests, ministers, and friends who work for the healing of mothers who have had abortions, that God would empower their efforts by His grace.

  14. For all members of the medical profession, that they would stand by their ancient oath to use their skill for the cause of life and never against it.

  15. That judges and jurors of all backgrounds understand and take seriously their duty towards victims and the accused and dispense judgments with justice and mercy.

  16. For the fathers of all aborted babies, whether they approved of the abortion or not, that they would come to feel the incalculable loss of their child and would turn to God for consolation.

  17. That all people of goodwill would unite to care for the elderly and dying instead of designing ways to free themselves from that responsibility of love.

  18. For all women who have had an abortion, that the merciful love of Jesus would penetrate their pain and guilt, bringing them healing and hope.

  19. For women caught in situations that make the choice for life for their unborn child difficult, that they would seek and find help in achieving a better way of life.

  20. That governmental bodies, private agencies, and all people of goodwill would recognize the need to assist women and families caught in the nets of poverty, addiction or abuse.

  21. That private and governmental health agencies would take responsibility for informing the populace that some common forms of contraception can or do cause abortion.

  22. That families, medical personnel, clergy, counselors, and social workers would place the value of human life and the guidelines of the Church above all other considerations when making arrangements for the care of the elderly and disabled, including end-of-life decisions.

  23. For all the dying, that they would experience God’s love through the compassion of those assisting, visiting, and praying for them.

  24. That the political and medical communities would recognize that the ban on human medical experimentation should protect all human beings, including newly-conceived embryos.

  25. For an end to every form of domestic violence and for the healing love of God upon those scarred by such abuse.

  26. That the terminally ill and their families would find faith and hope through their suffering and turn to God for strength and inner peace.

  27. For those who consider themselves “pro-choice,” that they would receive the grace to recognize that if babies in the womb had a choice, they would choose to live.

  28. That children caught in abusive situations find courage and strength in God, and that through the love and care of those of us charged with their welfare they grow to be compassionate, respectful, loving adults bringing to an end the cycle of violence in their lives.

  29. That those proponents of women’s “reproductive rights” would come to understand that a woman’s “rights” stop where her baby’s rights begin–with the right to life.

  30. That homeless, orphaned, insane, terminally ill, or mentally/emotionally/ physically challenged people in our land would experience love from all people of goodwill and protective care from all public and private agencies.

  31. That the people and governments of the United States of America would return to their religious and political foundations which would never have condoned or even imagined a concerted attack on defenseless lives in the womb.

For this child I prayed and the Lord has granted my petition . . . and He will guard the feet of his saints.  --   1 SAMUEL 1:27 and 2:9
